Canisius alum Manhertz signs with Jaguars

Canisius basketball alumni Chris Manhertz signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week to a two-year deal worth $7.25 million.

Manhertz, a tight end that played for Canisius basketball from 2010-2014, has been in the NFL since 2015 with the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. He has 12 career receptions, one of which was a touchdown. 

Manhertz is fourth on the Griffs’ all-time rebounding list with 789 career rebounds. He also averaged 6.5 points per game across 116 games, 94 of which were starts. 

In the NFL, Manhertz has appeared in 70 games, making 28 starts. He made a career-high 12 starts for the Panthers in 2020 and played in all 16 games for the third time in his career.
