Salaried and hourly employees at Canisius will see an increase in pay

According to a statement released by President John Hurley, the college will increase the salary of salaried and hourly employees as well as contributing five percent more to the 403 (b) pension plan.

An increase in the pay rate for salaried and hourly employees at Canisius College was announced through an email sent out by President Hurley this past Tuesday to faculty and staff.

Salaried employees will receive an increase in salary of $500, and hourly employees will earn an extra 25 cents per hour, according to the email.

All faculty and staff will see an increase in their contribution to the 403 (b) pension plan, that will increase by five percent, President Hurley said. 

Facilities workers will not see these new adjustments in effect due to the recent approval of the SEIU collective bargaining agreement, said the statement. Employees hired on or after June 1, 2019 will not receive these new benefits, the statement said. Also, these benefits will not apply to administrative employees and staff employees who have received a promotion or salary increase on or after June 1, 2019. 

“The college’s senior leadership has been working with the Board of Trustees to provide a mid-year compensation and benefit increment as a way of demonstrating our thanks for all the good work that is being done,” President Hurley said in the email. 

Adjustments made to the pay raise and other benefits added will become effective the first pay period after Dec. 1 of this year.
